Specializing in Psychiatric Evaluations and Medication Management for Mood and Anxiety Disorders.

Psychiatric Evaluations
Before our first meeting I will provide you with electronic forms to complete so I have some information about your concerns and history. You will also receive treatment consent forms to sign electronically. These forms will need to be completed before your first appointment. Our first appointment together will be 60-90 minutes in length. During this appointment we will talk about your current symptoms, past treatment, your family, social, and medical history, and your goals for treatment. I will answer any questions you have about treatment options and the treatment process. In some cases a second appointment may be scheduled to collect the information needed to develop a comprehensive treatment plan. Please note that medications are not always prescribed on the first visit and I may not be able to provide refills of existing medications during this visit.
Medication Management/Follow-up Appointments
I prescribe medication conservatively and thoughtfully and in partnership with you. I will only recommend medication if I believe it will help your symptoms. My focus is on providing evidence-based treatment. In some cases, pharmacogenomic testing may be an option to help inform medication decisions.
If we are changing your medication or starting a new medication, I will see you as often as every 2-4 weeks so your progress can be monitored and I can ensure that you are not having any problems with your medication. If you are doing well on your medication, appointments may be scheduled every 90 days. Medication refills will be provided during your appointment to last until your next scheduled appointment. It's important to come to your scheduled follow-up appointments to ensure you do not run out of medication.
My Approach
I believe that I can provide the best care to you when I am able to collaborate with other medical and mental health providers involved in your care. This may include primary care providers, other medical specialists, psychologists and mental health therapists. I want you to feel empowered in the treatment process and believe it's essential for you to have an active role in your care.
There are many factors in your life that can contribute to symptoms. Your physical health, genetics, lifestyle, relationships, and work life all can play a role. I approach the evaluation and treatment process holistically and consider all of these factors when recommending treatment. Treatment recommendations are often not limited to medication; I frequently discuss health and lifestyle changes that may be helpful and also offer supportive therapy during appointments. In many cases I will suggest ongoing psychotherapy with a therapist. My philosophy is that psychotherapy is often essential in addition to medication for you to have the best results in treatment.

Please be aware that I only provide clinical, treatment focused services. I do not provide court-ordered, disability, forensic, custody, or parenting evaluations and do not write letters or offer consultations for legal purposes. I do not provide letters for service or emotional support animals as part of my practice. As a solo provider, I am unable to provide 24 hour or immediate crisis services. If I believe that you may need a higher level of services than I can provide, I will give you referrals for other treatment options.Â
